Eleven Years in the Making

Unlike most reality TV vocal groups, The 60Four wasn’t assembled for television. The four members first came together eleven years ago in a high school music classroom, bonded by a shared love of 1960s and ’70s music. By the time they walked onto The Voice stage, they weren’t a group finding its sound — they were four old friends with more than a decade of history behind their harmonies.

The Blind Audition

The 60Four opened their Voice journey with a rendition of Leo Sayer’s 1976 hit “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing.” Kate Miller-Heidke turned first, and the performance ultimately earned a full four-chair turn.

In a twist that set up an early storyline, Melanie C used a block on Ronan Keating during the audition — meaning Ronan wanted the group from the very start but was shut out of the pitch. The 60Four chose to join Team Melanie C.

The Move to Team Ronan

By the time the competition reached the Quarter Finals, The 60Four were no longer performing under Melanie C — they’d moved across to Team Ronan Keating, the very coach who’d been blocked from getting them at the audition. It’s a fitting turn: the coach who wanted them from day one eventually got his group after all.

Reinventing Themselves: The Quarter Final Gamble

Rather than stay in their comfort zone of 60s and 70s classics, The 60Four took a risk in the Quarter Finals with a reimagined version of sombr’s “12 to 12” — a much more contemporary sound than anything they’d shown before.

The gamble split opinion. Richard Marx wasn’t convinced it was their strongest outing, but Ronan Keating stood firmly behind his group regardless: “Their voices are the best I’ve ever heard as a band on any show, anywhere,” he said, sending them through to the Semi Final.

Journey Through the Competition

The Semi Final: Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September”

The 60Four returned to more familiar territory in the Semi Final with a high-energy performance of Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September,” combining choreography with the tight harmonies that have defined their run on the show.

Ronan Keating praised their “insane vocals,” telling the group they were “a credit to yourselves and your parents.” Richard Marx, despite his earlier reservations about their Quarter Final performance, acknowledged their overall consistency across the competition: “Performance after performance, you never hit a false note.”
